The Brief

Old and new, side by side

The brief for this project was strict because the house is Grade II listed, and the clients wanted its character kept in a comfortable family home. Joining after planning, we worked with the architect and interior designer as the design evolved.

Extensive glazing is integrated into the restored original, with clearly modern additions alongside and one materials palette, in different colours, linking old and new. Demolition uncovered a floor-to-ceiling brick wall with exposed timbers, now a feature of the snug.
